Carol Varsalona is hosting Spiritual Journey First Thursday this month. She chose the title: Rejoice in a Sunkissed Summer Season.
“Live in the sunshine, swim the sea, drink the wild air.”— Ralph Waldo Emerson
I am rebelling a bit against the sunkissed summer. I’ve had enough of the sun. Here in the deep south of Louisiana, the sun has been incessant. On my walk this past weekend, I had to walk from tree shade to tree shade to escape the strong beams of heat. Heat index was over 100 degrees.
Finally, relief came in rain through the night last night. The sound of the rain settled me to sleep. This morning’s walk was shaded by cloud cover. I couldn’t help but sigh a thanks-be-to-God.

I feel powerless against the endlessness of climate change. I could dive into a rant, but I won’t. I’ll just leave these refreshing photos here for a respite and the thought that life will find a way. These photos are a poem. Poems are prayers. God answers prayers.

It’s hot here, too, Margaret, and we’ve just planted flowers we’re trying to keep alive via watering every night. Thanks-be-to-God for the rain, indeed. The photos are splendid! They ARE a poem, a prayer, a refreshment – I drink it in.
Poems are prayers. God answers prayers. Those sentences are full of hope. As are the photos… the dragonfly is my favorite!
Your resurrection fern is gorgeous! Glad you had some rain—thanks for this lovely post Margaret!
Poems are prayers. Beautiful. I’m thankful for the rain as well.
We see. We take a photo. We rejoice in the beauty of nature at the hand of the Lord.-a prayer forms in gratitude for what we see. Margaret, I would also leave the photos up to bathe in their beauty. The closeup of the fern attracted me immediately. I am so glad that you had the energy to take a walk in the oppressive heat. Stay cool. Weather changes are affecting too much of the US population. Climate Change is real! I have said that for years but some politicians negated this. We hope in the Lord and bow our head in thanks.
I meant to say I love the Passion Flower Vine. It is unusual and vibrant!
Margaret, even with the oppressive heat you found beauty in nature. As others have said, the pictures are a poem and poems are prayers.
I have walked from shady tree to shady tree also. June was cool here, but July is hot. Thank you for sharing nature’s beauty in the photos. Clouds and rain are indeed blessings.
Margaret, I am doing a presentation on blogging and have a section on blogging communities. I would like to include SJT but I need to know where to send them for more information. Do you still round that up? Is there an information post with a link that I could include? Also, I am assuming it is ok to encourage them to participate! 🙂
Relief through rain. I look at Texas and OK temps every day since I have family in both places. The heat is too much. Love your words, your poem at the end of your post.
“These photos are a poem.
Poems are prayers.
God answers prayers.”
