Linda is hosting today with a mashup of songs and poems. This reminded me that we did a similar activity in my class. I asked the class what song about friendship do they like. Kailyn said, “Count on Me” by Bruno Mars.
I stole the line “I’ll sail the world to find you.” to create a golden shovel.
My friend, I’ll
tell you again that I will sail
through a turbulent storm, the
end of the world
as we know it to
rescue you, comfort you, to find
safety in this place with you.

Fun idea! Like the poem.
What a great question to ask your class! Thanks for being a comfort-provider.
Such a wonderful message, Margaret!
It’s a loving poem, Margaret! It buoys me up! It’s wonderful what you do with your students!
Margaret, the poem you wrote is touching because it comes from your heart. I often think of you as someone who is kind and helps others. Your prayer shawls is and example of a loving act you engage in to give others strength.
I love how your creativity is interwoven with that of your students. What gifts you give them every day! As Linda noted, this is such a loving poem!
Your path from inspiration to finished poem always seems to direct and quick. How do you do that? What lucky people your friends are.
Daily practice I guess. I didn’t think I had anything worth putting up today. Thanks for finding inspiration and value in my efforts.
Wow, I’d like to just wrap your poem around me, what a wonder-comfort-hug it gives one, beautiful, and lovely image too, thanks Margaret!
Margaret, what a great activity to do with your students. Such a beautiful and heartfelt poem to gift to a friend. I think it sounds better than a lot of cards that I have read in stores. Have you ever thought about writing for cards? Thank you for sharing and for your inspiration. Good pairing with the photo, too.
That last line was unexpected – and so much better than I’d anticipated. Beautiful.
So fun–I love that you borrowed lyrics for your poem. I’m sure kids are super motivated by songs too!
