I am feeling uninspired, tired, and sad. Yesterday a dear friend died. Just last week she sent me a sweet card giving me sage advice about the death of my mother.
“I’m sure your emotions must rotate from one to another. I don’t need to remind you to take care of yourself. Sending you positive energy and caring thoughts.” Betty LeBlanc
I’m trying, Betty.
This card featured today came from my Inkling friend Molly Hogan. I’d also like to share a poem that another Inkling, Mary Lee Hahn wrote for me:
And if the darkness is not
a hallway, perhaps it’s
a bridge
a reflection
an eye into your soul
or into the mystery
that comes at the end of a day
or a life.
Mary Lee
If you are so moved, write a poem in the comments and encourage other writers with your comments. Thanks for walking by.

Oh, my goodness. I’m sorry you’ve suffered another loss…so sorry. I’m wishing you a bit of a break from sadness. Mary Lee’s words are wise and such a lovely illustration of Molly’s photo. I pray that you can feel the love that surrounds you. I’m sending mine too.
I’m so sorry that another love has been taken from your life. Sending a new round of hugs.
The Path
what remains
is the evidence of strength–
a network of living roots
holding on,
holding fast.
I love “the evidence of strength.” Thanks for your thoughts and support.
Strong visual in your “network of living roots!”
So sorry to hear about your friend Margaret. Hope Mary Lee’s poem and Molly’s pic bring some comfort and perhaps inspiration, sending love. Will try to circle round later, dashing off to teach. Thanks for sharing all.
Along our path We often stumble and fall What appears clear May be snarled with roots. Tempting our balance, Look inside Find your inner strength, That light that lifts That desire that sparks. Even a small flicker Grab it and Go…
Michelle Kogan, draft
I love the ending “Grab it and go”. Wonderful instructions for living. Thanks.
My thoughts are with you on these days of sadness. Writing is always a good way to process and reflect on the life of your dear friend. Thinking of you!
