This is a clogyrnach, a Welsh poetry form inspired by Paul at birds and trees of the mind. This wisteria blooms each spring outside my bedroom window. I think I write a poem about it every year.
Lavender locks lighten the sky.
In bloom, wisteria curls cry
sweet nectar of tears,
purple popcorn tears.
Bumblebees lick them dry.

Ahh….if only the wisteria were blooming here. Beautiful poem! Thank you for the introduction to a new form, too.
Love the bumblebee line, Margaret. What an interesting form. I think I even recognize the way it goes, but didn’t know it had a name! Your wisteria is lovely-lucky you!
Lovely work, my friend — rich with sound, multi-sensory imagery, personification. I like the choice of keeping the last six syllables together in one line too. Sweet! 🙂
That’s one tough format to follow, but you did it with such interesting mental images. Purple popcorn tears, I love it!
I love that they inspire a poem every single year
Did you see your journal in my poem about journals?
no, I must have missed it! but I’ll go find it. . .
