The weeks are beginning to speed up now that I am back at school. I have to rise early to have time for a walk, and today I was rewarded by the full moon setting.

Almost every morning since the pandemic started I vox with my friend Julieanne Harmatz. We met at NCTE years ago and have been friends ever since. Julianne lives in L.A., not LA (Louisiana). We often cross time zones with our messages. This morning I sent this picture to her, and she responded with the first line of this poem.
I have the same moon

I invite you to write a small poem in the comments. Leave an encouraging comment for other writers. Experiment with words. Find a line; follow its lead.
sigh….connecting loved ones. Very sweet.
this moon has stayed out
late again running ‘round a
new September sky
I love your personification of the moon, staying out late with the September sky! That was a quick response. Don’t stay up too late, friend.
Linda, it is amazing how one moon can be seen by so many and connect us all. I started thinking about your clever moon that loves a good late night.
Linda, I replied to you, but it came out below. Sorry.
September Sky
my light connects all
powering up emotions
distant hearts heal
Love the tag in these poems, Margaret. The moon has been glorious. I never think of it as linking us all but that is a great thought.
I wish upon this moon for healing hearts.
Yes, we wish and hope for worldwide healing. Thanks for sharing this beautiful photo prompt, Margaret.
Carol, I love how you say so much in few words! Every word is perfect! I also think of the moon as healing. I can’t get your lines “powering up emotions/distant hearts heal” out of my mind. Wow! You should have this haiku published.
Margaret, I’m glad you’re well. I was worried about your family and you in the hurricane last week. I have no clue what vox is, but I’m happy that your friend from CA and you can connect through it. The poem you created speaks to me because I often think how she (the moon) connects us to far away family or friends in this time and in the past. I can see your imagery. Julieanne staring at the moon on a beach with waving palm trees thinking of you and you in your photo thinking of her.
When I gaze at the moon I always think of her restorative powers. She uplifts me. I wrote my poem after I read yours, but before I read the comments. It’s interesting to see how three of us used personification and three of us think of the moon as a healer. Here’s my haiku, which I also thought could be a concrete poem in the shape of a moon.
moon gifts her glow
inside us
healing
In the last line used I changed the healing to restorative, healer, mending…, but I kept coming back to healing. At first I used your words “connect” and “messages”, but I changed them. Now, I’m thinking about putting them back in making a longer poem. I also wrote another poem, too. Thank you so much for sharing all your photos prompts. I appreciate them!
I like healing and how the inner glow inside of us is connected to the moon. Thanks for writing. Writing connects us.
Thank you, Margaret. I agree writing connects us and I’m happy I’ve connected to all of you.
Linda, I love your personification, alliteration, and cheerfulness of your poem. I see your moon in your “September sky” swinging in a contra dance and laughing.
