This weekend I was driving home from a trip to New Orleans for my grandson’s first birthday. On the drive I saw the sun shining from behind a cloud overlooking the tall sugarcane fields. Harvesting will start soon. I love the fall.

I have never seen a sugar cane field in person. This will be corrected asap!
Sun sings,
give me some sugar
Cane waves back
higher, higher
Linda, I like your playfulness, alliteration, and personification of the sun and sugar cane.
Thanks for this powerful image of sun Margaret and encouraging light in your poem!
Here’s mine
spread your sun rays sun,
and your powerful gift
of compassion
Michele, nice alliteration and great voice. Your metaphor “powerful gift of compassion” stands out for me.
Margaret, your one-year-old grandson’s party must have been a lot of fun! I like your alliteration and personification. “Sprinkle your light/wherever you are” sounds like a beautiful song!
Oops, forgot to write my poem in. Looking at you pic, I could hear the sun talking to me. I actually wrote another stanza, too. Thank you!
All summer I loved
playing hide-and-seek
with the clouds.
