On my daily walks, I try to be alert to changes in nature. This photo is of a mushroom that randomly popped up in a field of grass. The next day the head was completely gone. I suppose some creature of the night dined out on a mushroom meal. Looks like it was working on it before I took this picture. Tap into your imagination today. Write a small poem that captures something unique.

Wonderful image and poem Margaret, perfect for a fairy 🧚🏾‍♂️! Loved last week’s image too? I may have to revisit it for a poem… Thanks!
Nature’s natural sundial
dressed-up for all to ponder
her petticoats perfected splendor…
Love the perfected petticoats. Thanks for stopping by and playing along.
Michelle, beautiful! Love “petticoats perfected” and “nature’s natural sundial!”
What is it about the word petticoat that is just so wonderful? Combined with perfected, it’s just…well… perfect!
Love you photos. I could see this one going many ways.
Fungi fringe
Feast for small
Mammal family
Love the alliteration of fungi fringe.
Kathy, it looks like fringe to me, also. I love “fungi fringe” and think it’s perfect! The rest of your /f/ words flow naturally into a great poem.
I really like how your poem shifts from “f” sounds to “m” sounds.
I am…
a lacy curtain for a bug
sustenance for slug
as rich as coffee in a porcelain mug…
Please don’t tug!
This is really cute. Love the rhymes.
Rose, “a lacy curtain for a bug” is perfect and I love “sustenance for slug”! Fun poem and perfect for kids to guess who I am.
Oh! This is such fun, Rose! I also love “lacy curtain for a slug” and the guessing nature of your poem. The final line is perfect!
Margaret, I love what your images capture! I can see your fairies in fancy dresses and fancy wings dancing under the mushroom. Love your ending.
Today as I watched snowflakes fall words flowed. Here are mine:

messengers
of hope
Gail Aldous December 2020
We’ve had some snow fly around here as well, but nothing lasting. I enjoyed the serenity of this poem.
Those messengers of hope rarely visit my area in the south, but I imagine the peacefulness of a fresh blanket.
Such fun to imagine the fairies dancing beneath mushroom canopies! Here’s my quick spin:

farewell performance
Love the tattered tutu of her final performance. Thanks for joining the dance of playful poems.
