I teach at two schools, so I have a hard time keeping up with special dress-up days on the calendar. Yesterday, I got a free dress coupon from my second school, so yay! I could wear jeans and a t-shirt. I chose my Peter Reynold’s Dot Day t-shirt and my happy face sweater.

In morning carpool duty, I opened doors to Harry Potters and Belles. I asked my colleague what was going on. He said it was Book Character Day. Ha, serendipity! I was dressed as The Dot!

I love this! I just might need to find a smile face sweater…you give me good ideas.
It’s on Amazon and now 3 teachers have the same sweater.
Margaret, a great choice – a smile! And what better way to spend a day than in jeans and a t-shirt?
I can’t imagine trying to keep track of spirit weeks at multiple schools! I’m so glad this fell into place so smoothly for you! Yay for serendipity!
Now that is an amazing shirt! I would wear it any chance I could!
Margaret, your shirt is perfect. The quote is so inspirational for your young writers.
I like how your slice went from a casual dress day to a character dress day. And happily, your choice fit both themes!!
The Dot! Dot Day brings back so many memories.
I’m now at middle school, but my first library gig at an elementary school, I was tasked with organizing character day where students rotated through classes all day. Teachers read different picture books and had activities for the students. It was so exciting to see kids dressed as their favorite characters. Fun times!
I wish ours had been organized in that way. It would have had more purpose and fun. It seems the learning “fun” has been taken out of school and replaced with dress-up days.
