I follow Kim Douillard’s blog. She posts a weekly photo challenge. Last week’s challenge was “Path.” To me, her post was poetic, so I took words and lines and created a found poem.
Path
a found poem from Thinking through my LensThe snail’s wet trail caught my eye.
I remember Emerson’s words–
go where there is no path
and leave a trail.I find the sculpture;
Its path formed of trash
her artistic eye transformed
into beauty.My own path
ebbs and flows like the tides.
I follow moments of sunshine
to clouds echoing the waves.Seabirds above
follow an invisible path.
In the sky, agile pelicans
intersect the line of a hang gliderCausing me to wonder
what magical paths
await if we are willing
to look.
–Margaret Simon
I think I am a seabird following an invisible path. 🙂 Thank you for sharing your ebbs and flows Margaret. Beautiful! xo
I love, love, love your found poem! So many images that provoke so much thinking and remembering that makes me smile. Now I must go read the post that inspired such a wonderful poem. Have a wonderful weekend, Margaret!
I like the idea of an artistic idea transforming trash into beauty, Margaret. The elusiveness of one’s path is an interesting thought, that idea of wandering and enjoying it.
Beautiful. Paths are so curious. There are so many possibilities. I’ll take a magical path, please!
Nice, Margaret! I was taken into this image:
“In the sky, agile pelicans
intersect the line of a hang glider”
I wonder if birds have ‘flight paths’ that they prefer?
Thinking of the paths we take on our journey.
I like that you gave these words the line breaks and attention they deserve in your poem. They are indeed beautiful and thought-inspiring.
How wonderful, Margaret, that you found and followed the invisible path in Kim’s blog post to a poem! With beautiful results, I might add.
So many things to admire in this poem, Margaret. It really calls at my heart to follow the invisible path before me. Thanks for sharing!
I love all the path images in your found poem.
Beautiful Margaret, I love the path that this photo carried you on and your closing lines,
“what magical paths
await if we are willing
to look.”
Your last stanza…yes.
Taking lines from a blog and creating a found poem…hmmm…an ingenious idea! 😉 Seriously, though, I really like this – and the lines all work so well together!
You are on the path of wonder, Margaret. Your poem beautifully portrays this.
