I’ve joined in with a group of poets on social media writing to #inktober word prompts. It’s a great way to jot a little poem that keeps creative juices flowing. On Thursdays, Laura Purdie Salas faithfully posts an image prompt for 15 words or less. This week I used her photo of a red blooming tree and the inktober word, dizzy, to create an autumn haiku. Canva is my go-to site for creating image poems. Follow my posts on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. And join in the fun!

My new middle grade novel, Sunshine, is available on Amazon. I can’t wait to open the box of books coming soon. See a review here.

I love your celebratory fall poem and that final line “Hold the torch high.” Congratulations on your new book. So exciting!!! (Also, nice job completing multiple challenges in one poem!)
Margaret, I am so excited for you. Congratulations on writing a follow up to Blessen. The book review was outstanding, crediting you for your attention to details and sensitivity as an author. I enjoyed your Inktober poem using the word dizzy.
Congratulations on the new book! I love that you combined two challenges in one seasonal haiku!
Hooray for SUNSHINE and autumn skies. Looking forward to reading your published work.
You are really burning brightly, Margaret! Congrats on the new Blessen book!
Love this, Margaret. Her photo inspired me to write about a walnut tree in autumn.
Too much rain here for a torch, but the trees are definitely flinging color every which-way and blanketing yards in orange, yellow, and brown!
Congratulations on SUNSHINE, Margaret! That’s *uite a sunshiny review, and well-deserved. I love “hold the torch high”, and way to combine prompts yourself!
Congratulations you your new book! That is a spectacular haiku to go with that blazing photo.
Goodness, and when did all this writing happen??? You amaze me, Margaret. Amaze *and* inspire! Congratulations!
Congratulations on that stellar review! And I love those “dizzy leaves.” Laura’s image was perfect for that word!
Congratulations on your new book!
Fire upon and autumn sky is such a perfect line for that image!
