This week’s full moon was known as the Full Worm Moon. Other names for March’s full moon are the Crow Moon, the Crust Moon, the Sap Moon, and the Lenten Moon.
This week’s moon was also a supermoon, meaning the fullness coincided with the moon at its closest point to Earth making it appear larger.
Moon, moon,
Margaret Simon, draft
as you draw closer
I feel safer
knowing you’re
watching over me.
Glowing orb of night light
I share you with loved ones
So far away
I love how we all see the same moon. A connector across miles.
Sharing the moon is such a gift that Mother Nature gives us.
I feel your branch arms holding my heart as I cry to the stars and I know I’m not alone
Beautiful.
perfectly lovely
I love the personification of the branch arms.
Soap Bubble Moon
From the sky
cleanse
as we sing
Lullaby and Goodnight
until everything’s
all right
Linda M.
I love the soap bubble metaphor. And “until everything’s all right. “ we need a lullaby for our world.
So lovely!
Wouldn’t it be nice if everything was “all right?”
The faithful moon rises,
oblivious to the chaos below,
grasp tightly to its beam of light.
After all the events of the last few days, this is what came to me this morning.
Grasp tightly to its beam of light is just what we need. Hope rising.
Hear. hear. I thought of the chaos too. I wish moon could take it away from us. I love the idea of a faithful moon.
It is comforting to see things working the way they are supposed to!
We need to find something to hold onto!
As you spread your light to a darkened night, you draw me in to your peaceful glow.
This poem reflects the peacefulness of the moon.
sigh. this relaxes me immediately.
Lovely! My poem is similar. My morning featured that “peaceful glow” in my bedroom.
And do we ever need a peaceful glow.
Lenten moon
tries to float away,
but gets caught
in the branches.

Oh I love that “gets caught in the branches” metaphor!
I also love “gets caught/in the branches.”
I, too, love the idea of the moon getting caught in the branches.
Moon glow
illuminated my room
nudging me from slumber
to a light-and-shadows
dream world
I love to open my blinds when there is a full moon and let it whitewash the room. I love “light-and-shadows dream world.”
I love that sweet nudge from the dream world. Thanks for playing along.
Margaret – yes, there is a sense of safety under the light of the moon.!
Full moon spills its glow
illuminating a soft
blanket of clouds
Such a cozy blanket. 🙂
The way the Supermoon sits in the evening sky is such a calming presence, Margaret. Thank you for sharing your poem. We all need to feel safe this week.
