One of the bloggers I follow is Kim Douillard who lives on the west coast of California. She takes beautiful photographs and posts a “Silent Sunday” photo each week on her blog, Thinking Through My Lens. Last Sunday I was fascinated by the beach labyrinth in her photo. I thought about the impermanence of it, how the ocean will eventually wash it away. Like the Tibetan monks who create sand mandalas. The creation is the prayer.

Please write a small poem reflecting on the photograph. Write encouraging comments to other writers.

Very cool photograph! And I like the way the …. in your poem reflect the impermanence of the scene.
Shoreline artists

Absolutely! Bequeath their masterpieces…
Buffy, I love your haiku! For me “artists bequeath their masterpieces/to the rising tide” took on a royalty or deity meaning. Beautiful.
Yes. bequeath. Giving to later generations. Beautiful.
Margaret, this is what I call a WOW photo! I immediately felt joy and wanted to meander to the center. I love how your pi-ku gives me different meanings each time I read it and look at the photo! A pi-ku is quite a challenge. Thank you for sharing this photo prompt. This was fun!

My hope in this poem is for the reader to feel joy.
And I do–feel joy! I so look forward to the days we can get back to groups of unrelated clusters enjoying a space together.
Me too. Thank you, Linda. I’m glad you felt joy.
So lovely this snow day. I’m sitting in my kitchen looking out at ice, ice, ice. But, this photo brings me warmth and memories of happy times.
What an incredible labyrinth … the love that goes into making it so perfect to last such a short time. The concept of time caught me…I like how your word, “mark” has double meaning.
breeze plays with sand as
sun watches until nap time
surf music shhh shhh
Imagining the surf music and transporting to the beach.
Linda, ooh, I like your personification. Love the image of sun watching until nap time and shhh shhh. It makes me think of taking naps with my girls on a Cape Cod beach in the bay. Thank you for that!
Thanks for the post. I now follow her on Twitter.
