Poetry Friday is hosted today by my new poet-friend, Marcie. She is a master at haiku and sends me a beautiful photo with haiku card each month. Here is the latest one:

Today is my day to be featured on wee words for wee ones for my contribution to Two Truths and a Fib Poetry Anthology: A Poetic Introduction to 30 Subjects with a Twist. Thanks to Bridget Magee for her work compiling this book. If you are not sure about which bio statement is the fib, I’ll give you a hint: I teach gifted kids in grades 1-6.
I was inspired to write about Bubbles because my grandkids love to play with bubbles. Aren’t they fascinating? Kim Douillard granted permission for this photo to be included in the book. She takes photos on the beaches of San Diego, California. There is a bubble person who creates amazing bubbles on the beach. I love how she captures the wonder of a huge bubble in her photos.

I want to share my Fib poem. The Fib poem form was created by Greg Pincus using the Fibonacci series for syllable count: 1. 1, 2, 3, 5, 8,…

Margaret, it is so exciting to be part of Bridget’s new poetry anthology. Congratulations on being featured in the “Two Truths and a FIB-O-Rama”. That is a creative way for readers to become familiar with Bridget’s fun anthology. I remember seeing Kim’s photo and I am glad to read your delightful truth and fib poems. It was “bubbles of fun” as Bridget says. “shape-shifting whispers” is a great combination of words describing that amazing bubble. Your students and grands can take a ride on the bubble by using their imagination. Enjoy the weekend.
So happy to share a place in an anthology with you, Margaret. Love “shape-shifting whispers” and those fabulous bubbles!
Love your poem and “Shape-shifting whispers!” Congrats on the book, I like the breath spent with each poet, thanks!
I have always been fascinated by the huge bubbles and those who make them. So much fun for the grandchildren, too. I really enjoy everything about Two Truths and a Fib. Bridget is so creative and clever. The book, poems, idea have so much to offer kids of all ages and teachers, too. I am glad I am finally well enough to be a part of Poetry Friday! Marcie’s haiku and the photos are grand. That little crumb of an umbrella. Wonderful.
Bridget’s anthology looks like so much fun. I’m looking forward to reading all the poems. It’s a shame we can’t ride those shape-shifting whispers.
Amazing photo! I can see how it would be inspiring. Congrats to Bridget and her poets!
Love your fib poem. Bubbles and grands are a wonderful combo, aren’t they? “Shape-sifting whispers” is such a delight.
I’m honored to have your work in this anthology, Margaret. And happy Kim allowed her picture to be included, too! 🙂
I love that photo! In fact, I love ALL of Kim’s photos that you have shared, so I finally subscribed and followed so I don’t have to wait for your spotlights! (Great bubble fib, too. If only…)
I saw your special page, Margaret, love those “shape-shifting whispers” A friend of mine who lives on the coast near Seattle shared a picture of them doing the big bubbles-so gorgeous! Have a lovely weekend.
So glad your postcard arrived!
And I love your bubble poem. 🙂
Waiting for my copy of FIB to arrive! 🙂
and I do think bubbles are just about the most fun thing in the whole world (besides puppies).
Wow–those last two lines are amazing, Margaret!
Margaret, that’s a beautiful poem. I love the way it turns into something unexpected in such few lines. Congrats on the publication!
