I’m the kind of writer who…
plays in the sandbox of words,
invites others in,
builds a sand castle masterpiece,
doesn’t fear ocean waves,
is willing to build it again.

I live on the Bayou Teche in New Iberia, Louisiana. I love teaching, poetry, my dog Charlie, my three daughters, and dancing with my husband. This space is where I capture my thoughts, share my insights, and make connections with the world. Welcome! Walk in kindness.

This poem is a keeper, Margaret. I love your, what I think, is an extended metaphor. Oh, “sandbox of words”, “is willing to build it again.” Perfect. I think you should put this with a photo and make a poster for your classroom.
No truer words…you ARE this writer.
And I see stars.
I love the metaphor and love seeing your sandcastle masterpieces!
Beautiful metaphor!
Testimony to the creative power found by the oceanside – SO much metaphor! And so true – the sandbox of words, making masterpieces, willing to begin again and rebuild. Love this, Margaret.
So well said. Strong metaphor. I like that the sandbox of words has room for many players and castles.
What a strong metaphor to inspire a writer!
