I considered not writing today, taking a sick day because I am sick. I’ve had a cold and cough (Covid negative) for a week. This morning I decided to go to Urgent Care, and they have fixed me up with a steroid, cough medicine, and antibiotic. Excuse me while I cough.
I hate being sick. Does anyone really like feeling bad? No. But I can still be grateful.
For a cup of tea,
and my dog next to me.
A soft place to lay,
a comfortable place to stay.
Gratitude still owns my heart
when all else seems to fall apart.
How does gratitude influence you today?

Alas. Margaret. Hope you will soon be feeling better.Tea, the snuggly dog, the comfortable resting place, the meds, and even this shot of gratitude in poetry will all do their healing thing. I’m grateful it’s not COVID. My oldest son had a fever all night and it isn’t COVID; I am grateful for that. Taking him some chicken tortilla soup shortly – he has a craving. I’m grateful he feels like eating. Reminds me of how my husband recuperated from his heart attacks and surgeries on that soup – I am grateful for all of it and for the countless gifts in the moments of each day. Maybe I need to write about that soup… be well, Margaret.
Thanks for the virtual soup. I feel better already.
Oh no! I’m glad you went to urgent care, but more importantly, that you are taking it easy with Charlie. The comforts of tea and a warm animal can not be overstated. Sending hugs!
So glad Urgent Care was about to give you something to put you on the road to feeling better. Love your poem putting it all into perspective. Gratefulness through illness. What a gift.
oh sorry to hear you are under the weather! Hope the weekend gives you time to sleep and heal! Tea is always a good thing.
Oh, no! Feel better soon! I heard there’s another (not Covid) virus going around – the spring cold. My daughter had it last week. Try to relax with your cup of tea and take it easy!
Only you could put the rhyme into a sick day! I hope the meds work quickly and you find yourself back t good health soon!
Hope you are feeling better. Gratitude for a place to heal.
Oh, I’m so sorry you’re feeling sick, Margaret. I also wrote about gratitude today, or at least partially about gratitude. Here’s hoping you’ll soon be feeling grateful for being well again!
Oh no… Glad you are taking care of yourself…and had the energy for a few rhyming couplets. Feel better friend.
So sorry to hear, but so good that you can discover gratitude and appreciation in the midst of feeling unwell. My son-in-law is recovering from covid, he’s triple vaxxed but still it took its toll. Our daughter has been with him of course all week and is completely fine and negative! So strange!
Prayers for your son-in-law. Last month I spent the weekend with my daughter and her toddler son. They both tested positive after I left, so I had been exposed. Never got it. But this virus is kicking my butt. It is strange.
Thank you for encouraging the glass half full perspective. My gratitude abounds in a day relatively to myself while my husband squeezes the marrow out of the waning ski season here in the northeast. I hope you feel better soon:)
