Ruth Ayres invites us the celebrate each week. Click over to her site Discover. Play. Build. to read more celebrations.
Twitter is buzzing this morning. My friends in cyberspace are posting images of their writing spaces. Such a fun way to connect with other teacher/writers. My writing space is messy. I sit at the kitchen table most days because Charlie (my dog) is here, so he keeps me company. Mimi, the cat, is often lying on some random piece of paper. What is it about cats and paper? I have a tablet for notes, a leather journal for quick poems, and my school notebook where many ideas are stored. I celebrate time to sit here, connect with others, and write.
Celebrating Rainbows: The good thing about summer rain showers (which are happening daily) is rainbows. I know the science behind a rainbow, but I still marvel at the sight and believe in the promise. May your summer be filled with rainbows.
Celebrating coffee shop visits: Yesterday I had two coffee shop dates. A wonderful way to relax and reconnect with friends over summer days.
Celebrating antique shopping: This is a rare treat for me, to wander through an antique market. This one is next to the Joie De Vivre Coffee Shop in Breaux Bridge, Lagniappe Antiques Mall. Lagniappe is a French word that means a little something extra. That’s an understatement. It was a warehouse full of somethings extra. I bought a few things that jumped off the shelves at me, silver napkin rings, a 1961 Life magazine, and vintage postcards.
What are you celebrating today?
Oh, wish I could shop for a ‘little something’ with you, so fun. My brother owns an antique shop & I am now in the business of sending things to him that I’m getting rid of, but that still doesn’t keep me from buying more. The rainbow picture is lovely. I imagine with all our rain we’ve had a few, but I am hemmed in by trees, so haven’t seen them. Have another happy week, Margaret.
I’ve heard from other cat owners that their cats enjoy writing, planning, scheduling, and drawing on paper. Creative creatures.
Rainbows never cease to amaze me. Last fall, on the night before school started, there was a DOUBLE rainbow in the sky. I was sure it was a sign of magical things to come!. (It was!) Thank you for sharing your writing place on #Iwritehere.
I love all of this! And to think, I will be there in a few days! Packing rain gear, shopping bags, tank tops and shoes that don’t slip đŸ™‚
Oh coffee shop dates sound heavenly!!! In a couple of weeks, we will be sitting on the porch in rocking chairs, talking about writing. I CAN’T WAIT!!!!! Have fun with Julieanne! đŸ™‚
What lovely images of vacation…I too love the magic of that elusive rainbow promising hope and peace. Soon I too will be on vacation.
Margaret, now I can see we have another common love: antiquing. My house if full of remembrances from the past. I have not been antiquing lately since I cannot imagine where I would place another item but your visit to the lovely store sounds like it would be charming. I still enjoy finding a cute store to see what
If you want the rainbow, you have to deal with the rain.
Oops, my comment went through before I finished writing. The quote I placed at the end of my response is from Fault in the Stars. Rainbows are so special. I see the positivity in the quote and wanted to tell share that with you. Enjoy your days of writing.
