My box of Paint Chip Poetry arrived just in time for this month’s poetry writing. I am playing with poetry. In Paint Chip Poetry, you select a prompt which is a phrase, along with some paint chips. The paint colors have names. I’m not sure if I’m playing right, but here is what I got.

A little revision:
Far, far away
before the rain,
a sunburst glows
on scarecrow
makes him believe
in magic like gold
at the end of the rainbow.
–Margaret Simon, (draft) 2019
Matt Forrest Esenwine has the first line for the Progressive Poem. He is using found lines. The schedule is in the sidebar. National Poetry Month begins!
A sunburst glowing on a scareceow is so perfect! It is almost as if these bits jumped into your skillful hands, wanting to be written in a poem together. I am now off to check out this wordgame! Happy NPM Day 1! xx
I was on your blog while you were reading mine. Synchronicity! Thanks for reading.
This is wonderful! Back up a step….your box of paint chip poetry arrived? From where? Is it a package to purchase? Or, do you make your own?
It’s a thing! https://smile.amazon.com/Paint-Chip-Poetry-Color-Wordplay/dp/1452158800/
Off we go! I chose paint chips to get things going, too. Raided a stash from Home Depot yesterday, LOL! Your poem is perfect. Love that sunburst glowing, too.
Love your hopeful scarecrow!
So fun! Ruth, thereisnosuchthingasagodforsakentown.blogspot.com
This is so cool. I love the novelty of this, and how accessible it would makes poetry for my special needs learners. Thank you!

Seems like magic brought these three to you, Margaret. Love the image you wrote for us readers!
I can’t wait to play with the paint chips! What a fun poem to start. Love the line about the sunburst glowing.
I didn’t know it was a something to buy…just thought it was something from Home Depot. Who knew? Love it though…we’ll be playing too, probably after our spring break next week.
You pulled me in again, Margaret. I was so certain I was out, and then I saw this challenge and I just had to join in! What a wonderful idea for April! I really appreciate seeing the draft and the revision. I learn so much from you! The revised version especially creates such a strong image for me.
