Saturday brought warmer winds and time. My husband suggested a paddle on the bayou. Living on the Bayou Teche, we try to take opportunities to go out in the canoe. We know that too often we are too busy, or it’s too hot, or too cold, or too ___ fill-in-the-blank.
Our paddle to the East–
soft breeze,
flock of yellow-crown night herons,
waves to friends on their back porch.
Stop for a beer break, turn back toward the sunset.
sun majestic on the water,
an Eagle sighting,
simple beauty.

I love your slices about the bayou. It is a world so unfamiliar to me – your glimpses are fascinating and remarkably beautiful. Your sharing of your view of nature’s bounty on the bayou has opened my eyes to another connection, through the power of the written word and your slices. Bravo!
What a wonderful way to spend the day. The wildlife, the sunset, the water, it all sounds so wonderful, especially now as we are forecasted to get some snow today 😦 Wishing you many more moments like this.
Another vivid description, you capture your canoe trip so beautifully.
Your home is so engulfed by nature. I am always stunned by yours pictures. poetry and prose.
What a beautiful way to capture a moment.

How wonderful that the two of you got out there for a paddle together. There are so many too-______ to count. Seizing the moment is critical!
Oh, Margaret! This is so lovely. What a beautiful moment for you two to spend together. I’m so glad you ignored all the “too’s” and went for it!
You have stolen my longing heart with this scene, Margaret – oh, to have tasted that splendor, and seen that eagle!
